TOP TIPS

Avoid offensive names and other people's trademarks.
New domain names must be three letters or more and consist only of A-Z,0-9 and dashes.

If a two word name such as specialreserve.com is not available, consider hyphenating it as special-reserve.net.

If your surname such as honeyford.com is not available, consider the plural honeyfords.com.

You can register as many domain names as you like. If you don't want them later, just let them expire.

RECENTLY INTRODUCED! The newest UK domain designed for individuals to register their own name (e.g. johnsmith.me.uk). You are allowed to register your own name or a valid variation (e.g. jsmith.co.uk or mrsmith.co.uk).
You could also register your company name as a .me.uk domain (e.g. thelightingcompany.me.uk).

Generic domain registrations in the .me.uk domain are also permitted (e.g. hello.me.uk or thelatestnews.me.uk).

You are strongly advised against registering somebody elses name, a company name or a trademark unless you have the owners permission to do so. Such registrations may be treated as 'abusive' registrations by Nominet and in the case of objection by a third party, the domain name could be legally removed from you without compensation.
