Using An FTP Account

The FTP software we recommend is CuteFTP. You can get this by doing a search for Cute FTP or by clicking here. This is a simple and powerful FTP tool.

When you first load CuteFTP you will be shown the ‘Connect’ screen. If you are not shown this, then click the first icon on the menu bar - Site Manager. At this point you will should see the following screen.

From here click 'New'.

This option allows you to set up an FTP account so you can upload to your website. At this point you will see a dialog box similar to the one above.

You will need to fill in the following information.

Site Label:
This can be anything you like. This is a label so you can identify the account within CuteFTP.
FTP host address: ftp.<your domain name> (e.g. ftp.domain.co.uk)
Username:
Usually <yourdomain> (e.g. domain.co.uk). Check your documentation
Password:
Set up by Blue Chilli. Check your documentation
Once you have completed these details, click 'Connect'.

At this point you should find the files on your local machine (in the left hand pane), and the location you wish to upload them to (in the right hand pane).

Once you have located these, you can click and drag the files from the left hand pane (your local files), and drop them in the right hand pane (where the website files are stored) and vice-versa.
